Tune In TUESDAY | Lana Del Rey’s “Ride”

This is quite possibly one of the most beautiful music videos I’ve seen in a very long time.

The artistry. The poetry. The movement. The colors. The message.

It’s all so very well done. Nearly perfect.

Craigslist Joe

“Craigslist Joe” follows a man’s attempt to live for an entire month using only the generosity of people found through Craigslist to survive. (CLJ Films)

My boyfriend Max makes fun of me for not being able to finish reading short stories even though I am a professional writer but, as many writers know, distractions come with the territory of creationism.  That being said, and lightheartedly admitted, I will share with you my number one distraction: NETFLIX.

Although I am completely hypnotized by my Queue, there are a few gems listed on it.  The best one I’ve seen since seeing my all-time favorite documentary, Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey, is Craigslist Joe, a documentary by Director Joseph Garner.

Produced by one of the world’s most original comedians Zach Galifianakis, the documentary highlights the director’s mission to live solely from craigslist connections, the nation’s most popular network.

Joe also sets out to determine whether humanity is actually humane or not.

This is one of the most non-cheesy, yet overwhelmingly inspiring documentaries I’ve seen in a long time.

Its ability to positively change my perspective on human interaction in the United States was the one thing I enjoyed most about it.  I am an optimist by nature so going into the doc, I had an inkling that Joe would be treated well but I had not anticipated the emotional responses of the people he met and how deeply his journey would impact my everyday life.

What I learned from watching the doc is that all of us are actively creating a unique and amazing story.  We don’t necessarily have to be in the limelight to live a fulfilling, star-studded existence.  We simple have to live, to the best of our ability, with an open mind and giving nature.

In conclusion, if you need one more item to add to your list of writing distractions Craigslist Joe is highly recommended.
